Click on the still image above to see a video
our current prototype direction-finding microphone in action.
A low resolution version
is also available.
A digital readout of the source bearing (from
LabView) is displayed on the computer screen. We see that the
needle follows the sound source as it is moved
across the plane of the device. We also see that the readout
stays steady if we repeatedly generate sounds
at a single location.
The sounds in this video are generated by a small
clicking toy in the shape of an alligator. If your computer does
not support sound, the visual cue for the clicks
is the opening of the animal's mouth.
