The Pinger

Description

"The Pinger" is a handheld device which generates a simultaneous flash of light and wide dispersion sonar pulse at the press of a button. The Pushpin Time of Flight sensor package can measure the time difference of arrival between these two signals, and from this measurement and an assumption about the speed of sound in air, a Pushpin can determine its distance from the Pinger. The Pinger is triggered several times in this manner to create several points of correspondence that the Pushpin network can use to perfrom distributed, ad-hoc localization.
