The RF Random Access Integrated Node
Hardware

CC1010 Integrated Transceiver and Microcontroller
The CC1010 includes an RF Transceiver that can run from 300 MHz through 1GHz. The frequency is controlled by the firmware. The CC1010 RF Transceiver uses Frequency shift Keying, and has built in bit synchronization, preamble sense, RSSI, bit synchronization, Manchester encoding/decoding, and PLL Lock indication. The integrated microcontroller is 8051 architecture with 32Kb of flash for code and nonvolatile data, 2Kb of RAM, and a suite of peripherals including a UART, SPI MAster, ADC, Real-Time Clock, Hardware Random Number Generator, and DES/3DES encryption decryption implemented in hardware.
Dual Clock System
The RFRAIN has a 14.7456MHz crystal and a 32.768Khz crystal to be used in low power modes
Monopole Antenna
Two choices of antennas, selectable by 0R resistors, either a wire monopole or an SMA connector for a whip antenna
Antenna Tuning and Filter Circuit
Component values on the schematic and BOM are for 433MHz. For other frequencies, use SmartRF Studio (on the software page) to automatically determine component values for specific frequency ranges. For the frequency hopping version of the software, use the settings with 915MHz as the base frequency.
VCO/PLL Inductor
Single inductor is the only external component for the VCO. Use a high quality photolithographic inductor. Component value is given by SmartRF Studio (on the software page) for a specific frequency.
Programming/Debug Interface
For the in-circuit programming of the flash using the CC1010 Flash programming tool (on the software page) and the CC1010DK Development Kit. Also for use with the Keil uVision in-cicruit debugger.
Dual 2MM Headers
Bring out serial interface, RSSI, ADC, and all other GPIO pins a peripherals for easy embedding of the RFRAIN into an application circuit. See user's guide for pinouts.
PCB pads for pullups
All I/O pins on the CC1010 are open-drain, pads for 0402 pullups have been added to all pins.
